Milne, namely Christopher Robin Milne, beginning when he was about 6 years old and onwards. Perhaps though, Not Ivy League’s next “scholarship-ready shoe-in” – yuk yuk yuk! Milne’s IRONIC commentary anthropomorphically “personified” on the subject – albeit “self knowledge” never quite clear, let alone accessible, unto Owl himself [naturally!
But I was wrong. Cynical, stupid and wrong. Always gunning for the “money angle. One day Roo sets out, after hearing a strange trumpeting noise in the night said noise belonging to, as we later learn, “Mrs. The animation here is just fine.
Rent or buy “Pooh’s Heffalump Movie” today. Here’s a jewel for the 21st Century, as A. Milne would’ve envisioned as much. Love Winnie the Poo and his friends!! My two year old daughter is obsessed with this movie. She originally watched it on streaming, but we don’t always stream that channel, so I bought this for her, so she can watch “baby elephant and kangaroo ” every day now. And she does!
I’m very very fond of this film, both on my own and through the eyes of my four year old. It has just the right balance of excitement, scary parts, and sheer unadulterated joy — and that’s what I love so much about it, is the joy.
Somehow they’ve captured, in the songs and the visuals, the exciting glorious feeling of being young and free in the world, of having a friend and an entire day to celebrate it. There’s a lot of love in this film, and that far outshines its drawbacks. It’s a little bit odd that Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit and Piglet become secondary and not very complimentary characters, and the voice talent doing Tigger is actually a little bit creepy, he sounds like Paul Winchell at which, alas, he never attained.
And my two year old finds the movie a little too scary to watch, though he’ll peer at it, intrigued, from behind the couch. But my four year old immediately proclaimed it his favorite movie of all time and said he wanted to watch it every day from now on.
And he does watch it frequently, and I continue to enjoy the music emenating from the other room. I don’t ever get tired of “We Stand Shoulder to Shoulder” or whatever the official title song is, as Roo and Lumpy celebrate their friendship. Indeed, just hearing it, my heart sort of soars.
I remember that feeling, from so long ago — a good friend and all the world to explore together. And I’m glad to find that in a kids’ movie. This is being promoted on Amazon as a Winnie the Pooh Halloween special but it has nothing to do with Halloween and is some sort of recycled “just because someone is different doesn’t mean they’re bad” instead.
Do not recommend this and would not purchase any Disney content that you do not know what it is after this.
A thoroughly enjoyable film for the whole family! My husband and I made a quick decision to take the whole gang to see the film the day after it opened. Our five children range in age from 7 years down to 16 months, and ALL enjoyed the experience! I especially enjoyed watching our 3 year old – since this was his first “movie theater experience” – with his eyes rivoted to the screen and munching on his popcorn. He never squirmed; he simply loved every minute of it!
The baby Heffalump a. Lumpy had the sweetest voice and moved me to tears at times. The friendship that Roo forms with Lumpy teaches wonderful lessons to children about getting to know a person before judging them as someone to be feared or avoided. Even the gesture by Lumpy’s Mom near the end of the film was sincerely touching as she put her trunk around the shoulders of Roo’s mom Kanga.
Our children have just loved watching “Piglet’s Big Movie” and “The Tigger Movie” repeatly on TiVo where we have it recorded – as well as the series “The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” I truly enjoy listening to them laugh and laugh as they view these episodes! Most highly recommended!

The others do not want Roo to come with because they think hes too little, so Roo goes off on his own mission while the others are out as well. He comes across Lumpy and finds that Heffalumps aren’t how Rabbit says they are and are not scary creatures. There is a nice selection of songs throughout the film and is very typical in being a drawn cartoon. It does not have a narrator as is common in most Winnie the Pooh Films. There are light references to A.
Milnes Winnie the Pooh Stories, mainly in the end credits. Heffalumps and Woozles as any classic Winnie the Pooh fan would know are notorious for stealing Hunny and feared throughout the hundred acre woods. The story is nice, not too long and although it is not a classic story, it has good messages in it for kids.
My son loves it though. Recommended to any Winnie the Pooh Fan! Given the barrage of kids shows out there on satellite TV, that I felt the need to single this out with the honour of an individual purchase is significant. To say this is my 2 year old Daughter’s favourite movie would be a vast understatement, she watches or asks to watch this every morning and evening and seems to love it each time as much as the first.
From an adult’s point of view and the all-important can-I-stand-to-watch-thistimes test it is actually pretty bearable. The animation is very good, definitely a notch above most other movies of its type even the other Winnie the Pooh ones. While I find the Carly Simon songs on the soundtrack a bit cringe-worthy they are very well produced and absolutely appropriate for the movie, storyline and target age group.
The voice acting is top notch and the lip-synching is always convincing. The storyline is very basic, little Roo goes out on a heffalump hunt, actually finds a heffalump, befriends him and teaches all the others a lesson in friendship and acceptance.
Citizen Kane it ain’t but what it sets out to do it achieves admirably and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to any parent of toddlers or small children.
All I was worried about was losing this movie never mind my husband’s entire series of 24!! My daughter never tires of it, and it’s interesting to see – over the year that she has watched it – how she is now able to express her opinions about it, and verbalise how the characters are feeling. When Roo discovers Lumpy for the first time, my daughter’s giggles were a joy to hear.
She is absorbed in this film from start to finish every single time. I love Carly Simon’s music, and bought the CD which we listen to as a family at bathtime. Now I have a son too, and – whilst he hasn’t got the stamina to sit through the whole film – he enjoys the animation. There are a lot of CGI animated programmes on now, including ‘My Friends Tigger and Pooh’ on Playhouse Disney, but there is something charming about this original animation that just can’t be captured in the more modern programmes.
I agree with the reviewer who said that watching this film was an encouraging break from daytime children’s programmes, which get terribly repetitive at times. I’ve had my fill of Cbeebies! We have all the original Winnie the Pooh films on video a family favourite is the ‘Tigger movie’ – rarely shown anywhere , and are going to buy them all on DVD for our children’s collection.
Great themes, lovely pace, gentle dialogue and lovable characters make these films winners in our household. The perfect length film too. I’m so impressed that teenagers are writing reviews on here, and have bought the film for themselves.
